-
- I can get a SCSI ZIP drive for $199 and cartridges run $20 each (or
- $50 for a 3 pack). And this is from MacMall - Escom could buy them in
- bulk for even less.
-
- People who WANT a floppy can buy an external floppy drive used (I see
- them on the UseNet for $30) or new from a dealer ($70 for an external
- DD floppy)
-
- Best of all, if we get a SCSI ZIP standard, it'll be nice because it
- might/should give us an excuse to replace that crap-o-la IDE interface C=
- tried to shove down our throats with a generic SCSI-2 controller.
-
- After all, people who complain about price should note that 1/2 speed
- HD floppy drives run about $120... thats a mere $80 less than the
- Zip. And an internal SCSI-2 interface might cost $30 more than a
- cheapo IDE interface. $110 for a bottomless storage device - not bad
- at all.
-
- Only problem would be game devolpers - most of their stuff now is
- CDROM only, and if it is smaller, even 25MB carts are too high for
- them (like $10/each).
